Legend Oaks Plantation is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in Summerville, South Carolina, 30 minute northwest of Charleston on the site of a former rice plantation.
Legend Oaks Plantation golf course opened for play in 1992. The course was designed by Scott W. Pool.
Legend Oaks is genuine Low Country golf course. Golf Magazine Travel Editor Brian McCallen likened the approach to the Legend Oaks plantation-style clubhouse, through an avenue of 300-year-old live oaks, to the drive up Magnolia Drive leading to Augusta National. "Though the golf course is more akin to Pinehurst no. 2 in its straightforward presentation of challenge," McCallen added. Legend Oaks Plantation is a classic layout, nestled in Charleston's Historic Plantation area. It's a tight course with water in play on 14 holes, trees lining and bordering the fairways, and plenty of sand. The greens are well guarded, there's a number of doglegs, and it's really more of a shot placement course than anything else. The course is located in a residential community with houses in view on some holes.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,974 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4,954 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 15, a par-5 that plays to 596 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 8, a par-3 that plays to 160 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 1, a 434 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Legend Oaks is # 17, a 175 yard par-3.

The course requires ball placement skills to avoid the water hazards. There are houses on the course, but they are far enough away that they do not come into play for average golfers. The course is challenging and will require you to use all of your clubs in the course of a round.

Best bargin in the area! Very nice layout, challenging. You need to place shots. If you bomb the driver off every tee this is not for you, you will drive through the fairway. New management has been making improvements, cart paths have been fixed and greens are getting better and better.

We played Legend Oaks last Friday. They have sacrificed 15 & 16, the last natural boundaries on the course, for more housing. Now the front and the back are more housing developments with a golf course running through it than a golf course with houses on it. Having said that, however, it is a quality golf course for the price they charge. The greens are generally very true and they maintain it very well for the amount of play that it manages.
